This is a photography documentary I did at a Mexican prison. The main idea was to register the production process of a Mexican interior design house, Casa Teenek. It felt surreal to be inside the prison, in the ateliers, and have the opportunity of watching and listening to the inmate's stories, to be able to see how they manage to create for themselves little details as reminders of their beliefs and of the people that are outside waiting for them. People ask me if I was scared at any point, and to be honest, I wasn't. I was excited about photographing in this location and having these conversations with the souls I did. Some are full of hope, and others are immersed in their jobs and hobbies as daily life motivation. Let's remember not everything or everyone is exactly what we think; there's so much more to it. Casa Teenek gives these people a reason to wake up every morning and continue to live, one day at a time.
